Accessibility

TrueNote is committed to making its content accessible to as many people as possible, in accordance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, level AA.

Compliance status

This site aims for WCAG 2.2 level AA compliance. An internal audit was conducted on 24 March 2026 covering the specific 2.2 criteria (Focus Not Obscured, Focus Appearance, Target Size, Consistent Help, Accessible Authentication). Real contrast checks and screen reader testing remain to be completed.

Measures taken

  1. Semantic structure: HTML5 (header, main, nav, article, fieldset, legend), consistent headings, Schema.org breadcrumbs
  2. Keyboard navigation: skip link, arrow keys/Escape/Home/End in menus, focus trapping (search + mobile menu)
  3. Forms: associated labels, fieldset/legend, announced messages (role="status", role="alert", aria-live), hidden honeypot
  4. Contrast: minimum 4.5:1. High contrast mode 7:1 (WCAG AAA)
  5. Motion: prefers-reduced-motion respected, no auto-play animations
  6. Language: dynamic lang attribute (fr/en)
  7. Print: dedicated CSS, visible URLs
  8. Dark mode: CSS variable inversion, prefers-color-scheme detection, localStorage persistence
  9. Text size: compatible with browser zoom (rem)
  10. Interactive components: aria-expanded, aria-controls, aria-pressed on all collapsible elements and filters
  11. External links: sr-only indication “(opens in a new tab)”

Technologies

HTML5, CSS, JavaScript, EJS, htmx, ARIA 1.2, Node.js/Express.

Known limitations

  1. Some dynamic messages (htmx polling) may not be announced by all screen readers
  2. Dark mode contrasts have not been exhaustively verified
  3. Embedded badges (iframe): accessibility depends on the host site

AnySurfer

This site aims for WCAG 2.2 AA compliance, the standard for the AnySurfer label. Certification has not yet been requested.
